Buenos Aires Healthcare

Buenos Aires Health careThe healthcare in Buenos Aires is far better than you might expect. It’s certianly not expensive compared to the US and it’s a much faster service. I have been to see several doctors and a few dentists since living here and was very worried about it because of my limited Spanish. But it all worked out far better than I had planned.

As for seeing a doctor in Buenos Aires, for an English speaker, you have a few choices. You can go to www.hospitalbritanico.org. This is the English speaking hosptial but of course they speak Spanish and a few other languages also. But for a person just passing through Buenos Aires with a serious problem, or if you have money for the best care, this is where you would go.

However for those on a budget, like myself, there is another option. The Swiss Medical Group is like a clinic hospital and can be found in many different neighborhoods. They speak a little English at the reception and there is always one doctor who can speak a little English. Thank god for that.

I have to be honest, the 2 times I have needed to see a doctor quick, I have gone to the Swiss Medical Group and was amazed at the quality of the care, the speed in which it was completed and the price. It blew American low cost Health care out of the water. Both times I have gone I ended up paying a little over 150 pesos plus medicine which was dirt cheap. I was in and out on 2 hours. You won’t believe me until you go yourself.

The location I went to was on Puerrydon and Las Heras. But check the website for locations. Swiss Medical Group

In case your wondering, you do not need to have health insurance to go there. It would only save you on the medicine anway.

Dentists. Now this can be scary. If you have a dental emergency and don’t speak Spanish and don’t know the city, it’s a daunting situation. One that plauged me for at least a month.I will make the long story short and say that I did indeed find a great dentist, and one that spoke great English. He yanked 2 of my teeth and charged me 800 pesos. $230USD.
I learned why he spoke such good English. There is a huge industry in Buenos Aires of people from the US coming to Argentina for dental care. Why? Well cause the cost of the plane ticket, plus the care itself, plus a hotel, is still cheaper than the US. Can you believe that? It exsists for oporations like implants.
